RE: plz help me!!!! its urgent!!!! to create a sea
What will you be searching, html files, database data, file names. There is a good article on 4 guys about using readilne for searching text in documents. I have used this before in conjuntion with a file system object loop to go through the entire structure of a website opening html and asp documents and storing relevant links in arrays. This option worked quite quickly in a three thousand page architecture.
Hi smoothy
thanx for quick reply...the search can be anything..the search form i need to prepare is for a non-profit research organization which has the data like research stats, data files, filenames, employee names etc..plz tell me the name of the article in 4guys..
Expecting ur reply soon
thannx again
bharthi
You have to break down what you want to do in steps
If you want to search the database then first figure out what tables and fields you want to search.
Then you have to figure out the user input if he/she types dog, cat, house does that mean he wants to search for the whole phrase or each thing individually...this process you have to come up with.
I'm still not quite sure what you are actually searching and how the user input works so it is very hard for me to give advice.
Maybe you want to have the user input broken into steps so you can narrow your algorithm down to searching what you want. ie.
What do you want to search for
[a series of checkboxes etc.]
Containing text [a textbox]
Exact phrase or all words [checkbox]

What you are trying to do is quite vast and I'm surprised you have such a tight deadline.
