In my site I want to track the users that are logged in. When a user logs out I change a 'login status' in the DB to indicate that the user has logged out. The same query is written in the session_onend subroutine in global.asa to change the status, if the session times out. But since many users are used to closing the window and going away without logging off, these users are shown online even after a long time, as the query doesnt run and change the status. How can I track whether the user's session is active or not or simply saying, he's logged in to the server or not. Session time out is set to 30 minutes. I use ASP 2 with MS SQLServer 7 backend. Any suggestions would be very helpful!
