Default Directing after logon

Is there an easy to return a user to wherever they were before they logged in?

i.e.
A person looks through a forum and then descides to post a message. The person is not registered so when they try to post a new thread they get redirected to the registration form. After they register they get sent to the logon form. *** Now how do I get them back to the specific post they were looking at before the registration after they logon? ***

Do I need to pass the page URL in a querystring/session throughout the registration process?
Default On the login page....

get the Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_REFERER") and pass THAT to the validation page...when you validate the user and see that it is a valid login, redirect to that page got from the ServerVariables.
