Can't do it in ASp, need to use Windows Script Host <BR><BR>Then...<BR><BR>objExcel = WScript.CreateObject("Application.Excel");<BR><BR> then find out what methods you need at http://msdn.microsoft.com<BR><BR>then objExcel.save(filename) or something like that<BR><BR>objExcel.close;<BR><BR>HTH<BR>
I know ASP can write to Excel but i wanna to save the Excel file using the name user wants. And can i let the user key in the file path too. (where the file would be saved) directly at the client side.
is ask the user to right click and save as.<BR><BR><BR>OR zip the file and then have them download it.<BR><BR>The problem i noticed with .doc, .xls and other M$ office files is that they open in the browser and not give you the option to save...sicne IE 5.....i think<BR><BR>
like i said zip it and then the browser will FORCE a download....i was trying the same thing for a bit but could not do it and it was not important enough for me so i did not waste my time for long....sorry but if there is another way i do not know it
