Default Netscape question

I am attempting to obtain the value of some text boxes on my form in a jscript function using document.frmName.txtname.value. However, if there is nothing in the text box, I get the following error in Netscape only:
"document.frmName.txtName has no properties."

So, if there is nothing in my textbox, how do I ascertain that without getting an error in Netscape?

Thanks for any help.

Default JScript or JavaScript?

Sounds to me like you are talking client-side JavaScript, not JScript. Yes?

Anyway, it's some kind of cockpit error on your part. For <INPUT Type=Text> fields, NS and MSIE should work the same.

But NS is fussier about things like </FORM> tags, etc., and your problem may actually lie in your HTML.
