Default Browser Caching and Proxys

I have a question for you guys ... is the way to ALLOW the browser to cache your files and NOT have Proxys cache ? I know that I can added certain header information to stop this, but it stops the browser as well. What I am doing is this ... I have a page that NEEDS to be cache (a javascript) library. However, there is no reason for the proxy a visitor is using, to cache this file.

Any Ideas ?

Thank you,
Bryan Roberts
they use the same sets of headers, so there's no way to distinguish between the two.

j
