Default capturing Oracle errors

I am writing rows to my Oracle database. I have a unique key on
a table. When someone tries to write duplicates I would like to
capture the Oracle Error and tell them that the Password already
exists then redirect them -- not have the Asp blow up and write some error message to the screen that the user does not understand.

If passowrd is a primary key,

do a Select passowrd from myTable where passowrd = request.form("passowrd")

Then check if rs.eof is true. If it is not, redirect since the password obviously exists.
