I have a situation where I have an access database sitting on two different web servers (development & production).
Currently the db is being updated on the development system (where data is ftped to it, and this cannot easily change), and the database is copied over manually to the other system.
I would like to do this via ftp because we are not allowed to create a windows share, but we can create an ftp link to the dir(!).

Would I be able to create a lock file on the target system to disallow viewing of the database during this time? I could create a .ldb file on the target system, but is there a way to lock reading the db so that I can upload the new file over the current one?

Thanks
