Default JOIN problems

I am using various SQL statements to update records in an Access database. The SQL statements without JOINs work fine, but the ones that have joins give the following error message when I try to update records in those recordsets:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Cannot update.
Database or object is read-only.
/wedding/Heidi/CheckLogin.asp, line 44

Does anyone know what common problems using Joins to create recordsets or what I should be look for?

Recordsets created with joins are not updatable. If you need to update two or more tables you need to update the tables separately, preferably within a transaction.

    Lars,
Is there any exception to that rule? I have other pages that use Joins where I am able to update records.
