    Default Bad Update

    UPDATE proficiency<BR> SET proficiency.name_fl = l1.name_fl<BR> FROM (Select name_fl from logins) as l1<BR> where l1.name_fl is not null<BR><BR>How come this statement will not update the name_fl column in the Proficiency table with the values from the name_fl column in the logins table?

    You have to relate the 2 tables together. Whatever relates the 2 tables, put those fields instead of ID.<BR><BR>UPDATE proficiency<BR>SET t1.name_fl=l1.name_fl<BR>FROM proficiency AS t1,(SELECT name_fl FROM logins) AS l1<BR>WHERE t1.ID=l1.ID AND l1.name_fl IS NOT NULL
