Default Driving me completely insane

I am using IIS 5.0 on a Windows 2000 Professional platform. I am using the "default web site" in IIS 5.0. My home directory's local path is set to a path outside the inetpub directory. I have set an application variable to be set in the global.asa but I don't think the global.asa is firing. I created a virtual directory underneath the "default web site" and pointed it to the same local directory I used for the "default web site" and the application variable is set. (I created a test.asp page that writes this variable to the page.) Why is this happening and how can I fix this so my "default web site" global.asa fires?

Thanks

May i know which global.asa you are talking about? There should be one under your virtual directory, where u should put your application specific code.I don't think u actually referring to this global.asa file.other than this, any other global.asa is meaningless as far as ur application/virtual directory is concerned.
