I display an article from a database beside it there is a link to a glossary page. All the glossary words are stored in another table of the database.
This works fine but in another project for beginners in this particular field I would like to have a system where IF there is a word that is in the glossary then within the article text I would like the word to be a clickable link and then have the definition pop up in a little window so as not to be too intrusive. Does anyone have any ideas how to go about this? I would ideally like it to happen dynamically and I am sure I can do all the neccessary things except... I cant get my head around how to search the article text with the word list from the glossary and then put a link around it ...it seems that it would take a lot of unneccesary time or would it?...then this would have to happen each time the article is called...unless the info could be stored back in the database I suppose.
Then again I thought maybe use XML to identify the links when the article is first entered.
Hope you can understand my ramblings and any thoughts or comments from anyone would be most appreciated.
