## Dealer Locators

I need to create a dealer locator for a website, and someone suggested that ASP may be the way to go. I want someone who visits the website to be able to type in their zip code, and have all distibutors within "X" miles come up. Any ideas, suggestions?<BR>

Actually it&#039;s a fairly easy calculation if you know a little bit of trig. A little more involved if you want to do away with the assumption that the earth is a perfect circle. It does involve subscribing to a zip list. You can also find some zip lists that supply H & V data that you can use a simple algebraic formula with(pythagorean formula: a^2 + b^2 = c^2). The H & V method is accurate to about 1/3rd a mile, and is the same method that phone companies use to figure distances for toll charges, as well as airlines for straight line mileage. The tables used for this can become a little large and time consuming to generate. I&#039;ve created a method for a single table that is pretty straight forward that is based on an extract from a zip list from the post office.
