Hi,

I wanted to know the difference between CreateObject and Server.CreateObject. Also, is it possible to early bind a component within the ASP page or is it only late binding?

Thanks in advance
CreateObject will look for the object on the local machine (ie. client). Server.CreateObject tells the web server to instantiate the object, but it must reside on the server. (unless you're doing DCOM ).
And ASP is all late binding.
...

CreateObject "within" server side will also create the object
locally on the web server not the client. Server. tells IIS
to instaniate the object with it's own memory space making
the communication between the scripting engine and the COM
component faster.
Thanks a bunch for your quick response. I'm still not clear of diff between Createobject & Server.Createobject. If I use Createobject to instantiate my COM DLL, this should create the object within IIS memory space since it is a DLL and it should run in-process right?

Also, if I use tag in my ASP page, am I binding the object early?

Quick reply is highly appreciated.
