    Default Oracle connection

    Hi, <BR> I am looking for a connection string to connect to an Oracle database in asp. <BR><BR>Also do I have to use tnsnames.ora or can I bypass that and connect using a dsnless connection. <BR><BR>Please help. Thanks in advance..

    Even for the DSN less connection u need an entry in the Tnsnames.ora file for the particular DB server ur connecting to.<BR>Typically the entry in the file would be like this:<BR><BR>MYTNSNAME.WORLD =<BR> (DESCRIPTION =<BR> (ADDRESS_LIST =<BR> (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = = 1521))<BR> )<BR> (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = MYSID))<BR> )<BR><BR>where MYTNSNAME is ur tnsservice create a dsn name referring this service name.then use the dsn.<BR><BR>else u can use dsnless specifying this tnsservice name in the connect string.<BR><BR>hope this helps
