Hi

Anyone got any ideas how to implement gzip compression of html using ASP...A small number of utilities exist that do this server side using either Perl or PHP, but I would want to do this using ASP...

Any ideas?

Bryan (Reply Email:

I did something like this some time ago.
First off all i was using the zlib.dll just search for zlib on the web and yu will find it.
Unfortunately this DLL can't be used by itself in an ASP page so you will need to create a wrapper around it in VB for example.
After that just create an object like the one you created in an ASP page and use it as you woul use any other COM object.

Zlib is totaly comptible with gzip, but you have memory to memory compression decompression.
If you are interested just drop me an e-mail at and I will send you some code to do that or an DLL.
