Everyone,
Here is my problem......when a user comes to an intranet site...I want to see if there machine has a mapped network drive, say drive 'X'. If they do...I want to grab a file from a certain location off the X drive....if they do not then grab the file from another location.
Is this possible? Or is this a security issue and will not allowed by the browsers?
Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks
Bill

Sounds like you are going to have to run a script file on their computer or alternatively an active x object. EIther way the user will have to either accept running the *.vbs file or installing the active x obj. Go look at for examples of above, their performance monitor is an active x obj and their suggested fixes are performed thru windows scripting ie vbs files.

In an intranet setting you should be able to use the Scripting.FileSystemObject on the client-side.

Dunc
