    Default Why SOAP?

My question is about why SOAP is required???.I know that SOAP is Simple Object Access protocol.<BR> But SOAp uses XML standards. and if the client send a XML standard document which has to be read by the server using XMLDOM objects, then why do we require SOAP , we can just send a XML document.<BR> I would really like to know why SOAP is becoming so Popular.<BR>

Sure you could send a xml document via http through port 80 with HTML tag wrapped around it. But the SOAP envelope has business logic built into it that the SOAP server understands i.e. Respond to the message and then do something intelligent with the information.
