Default RE: How to list all records in alphabetical order?

Might be worth having this question put in the FAQ?

This is easily accomplished by using the ORDER BY statement in you SQL query. Like so:

SELECT *
FROM MyTable
ORDER BY MyField

You can add the DESC keyword to the statement to get a descending order. Like so:

SELECT *
FROM MyTable
ORDER BY MyField DESC

You can also sort on multiple fields with the results being sorted in the order the fields appeared in the query. Good for showing for example dates that book might have been rented out :

ASP Made easy &#124 11/12/98
ASP Made easy &#124 17/12/98
ASP Made easy &#124 09/01/99
ASP Made easy &#124 11/02/99
Fly Fishing &#124 04/06/98
...

Hope that helps

Pete
