I am trying to use a form to query a database for two different characteristics. Can anyone tell me if the way I am doing it and the code I am using looks right? I am just including the relevant parts of the code. Someone said something about concatenation but I couldn't understand what they were talking about. I am thinking they are talking about my using GET instead of POST (which causes concatenation). Do you think that is what they meant by concatenation or is there something else regarding concatenation happening in my code? I am going to change from GET to POST. <BR>The form had drop down boxes like this: <BR><BR><SELECT COLOR="color" SIZE=4> <BR> <OPTION VALUE = "blackwhite">black-and-white</OPTION> <BR> <OPTION VALUE = "blacktan">black-and-tan</OPTION> <BR> <OPTION VALUE = "redandwhite">red-and-white</OPTION> <BR> <OPTION VALUE = "transparent">transparent</OPTION> <BR></SELECT> <BR><BR><SELECT BIRTHDATE="birthdate" SIZE=4> <BR> <OPTION VALUE = "1/23/01">one</OPTION> <BR> <OPTION VALUE = "2/16/01">two</OPTION> <BR> <OPTION VALUE = "1/20/01">three</OPTION> <BR> <OPTION VALUE = "2/28/01">four</OPTION> <BR></SELECT> <BR><BR>and when the submit button is clicked the values for color and birthdate are attached to the url with the GET method. Then the ASP page is opened and it gets the color and birthdate choices from the querystring like so: <BR><BR>varColor = Request.Querystring("color") <BR>varBirthdate = Request.Querystring("birthdate") <BR><BR>Then I open a connection to the database and get the name of the fish that has that color and birthdate, like so (the SELECT statement is what I really need you to check the most): <BR><BR>objCommand.ActiveConnection = strConnect <BR>objCommand.CommandText = "SELECT name FROM fishtable WHERE color LIKE varColor AND birthdate LIKE varbirthdate" <BR><BR>then I have an ASP page that is the same as the original form but has ASP code like the following to write the name of the fish: <BR><BR><% <BR> Response.Write objRS("name") <BR> objRS.Close <BR> Set objRS = Nothing <BR>%> <BR><BR>Does it look like it makes sense? Mainly I need to know if, given what I did in the rest of the code, the SELECT statement looks right. Thank you very much for your help!
