    Default querying a remote database

    Hi,<BR><BR>I have an asp site running on my lan. I also have a SQL Server DB running on a (distant) web server. Can I set up a DSN on my lan that can connect to the SQL Server DB and let me query it? i.e. is it possible to query remote databases??<BR><BR>Thank you for you reply,<BR>Cian

    you can query a remote database, but you must specify th complete URL and physical address of the database. You can get the physical address by using Server.MapPath

    &#060;% myDSN="Provider=SQLOLEDB; Data Source=; Initial Catalog=yourdatabase; User ID=sa;"<BR> myDSN=myDSN & " Password=drcr1ppen"<BR>%&#062;<BR> <BR>use the ip address of the server and your userpass and you shouldnt have any problems ... <BR><BR>use this connection in your asp scripts ...<BR><BR>or why not use enterprise manager to connect ? <BR>
