I think I have been misunderstood in the relevance of my question. Let me try and explain further. When I asked the question 'What is the difference between a Record and a Table' I was talking about the difference between the Composite Datatypes Records and Tables and not the physical records and tables stored in the database.
The composite Datatypes 'Records' and 'Tables' by which I refer relate to 'User-defined Types'. They provide a way to deal with seperate but related variables as a unit. If you could explain how they vary from one another and in what situation you would use one or the other then I would be grateful.

Hope this clarifies my question, thank you.
