Default without using frames

I have a menu on the Left hand side of the page, which when the user cliks opens like the folding windows menu. Now when the user cliks the link, is it possible to open the corresponding file on the RHS, with the menu on the LHS, which has since opened, remaining in the same position? I don't want to use frames.

    Default RE: without using frames

I've never seen it done without frames, unless it was a Macromedia Flash rendered site. By the way, why avoid frames? I mean today 95+% are able to display frames. Are you worried about not being "listed" in a search directory even?

Frames don't bite, and are simple by today's tools and standards. I was just wondering.

Cheers, and happy programming,

Vadim C.
