This question is going to sound obvious at first, but read on.

How do you upgrade a motherboard on a computer that is currently running windows 2000 server without having to reinstall windows 2000 server?

We tried to do this by simply installing the new motherboard and using the same hard drive with windows 2000 server on it, but when we tried to boot it up the OS returned a blue screen that said invalid boot device or something like that…..

Is this a security restriction in NTFS ? Is there anything I can do before taking out the old motherboard out that will allow the change to take place successfully? Have any of you ever done this? Please help.
