I am writing a windows script file and i am using VBScript, i need to check whether the database is up or not. For this i am trying to connect to the database using isql, from command prompt, and then execute a simple SQL statement to get Count(*) value, and redirect this value to a file or to a variable.

I stored all these SQL commands in a string and passed them as shown below
objWshShell.Run("%comspec% /c" & strCmd & " > C: est.txt ",10,TRUE)

Can someone explain me how to accomplish this
Thanks
