Default Parsing out information from a string

I have the following string it can contain all of the values or just some of them. This information is written to the DB via a multiple select box. And the record looks like this.

4.01, 4.02, 4.03, 4.05, 4.06, 4.07, 4.09, 4.13, 4.14, 4.16, 4.17, 4.18, 4.20

I am looking for a way to parse the information of of this string. Should I use an LTRIM / RTRIM or should I read every character till the end of the string and then compile the information as I need it? what happens is when I print our the record it displays like this:

4.01
4.02
etc..

Thanks in advance for any assistance rendered
