do i need to close a resultset before i set it to nothing?

rs.close
Set rs = Nothing
conn.Close
Set conn = Nothing
sendmail.close
Set sendmail = Nothing
Not if you set rs = nothing or close or destroy the connection. Under those conditions, it will be closed automatically.
Dear Chantel,

If you don't stop at a stop sign, what will happen ?
Answer is: sometimes nothing, but sometime..... :)
Do both. Not only is it good programming practice, but without doing the close you may upset connection pooling (Oracle, for instance).
