Default id column in MS access

When I delete a few rows, the id (autonumber) does not get updated/refreshed itself. For example, if I have 20 entries(rows) in my database, and delete rows 10 to 15, the IDs 10-15 are taken out and the numbers are from 1-9 and then from 16-20. I have gone thro the help but cant figure out the remedy. Thanks a lot.

Autonumber columns are destinct and can't be re-used the database would have to re-index every foriegn key ID of every record for all joined tables everytime you deleted a current record
