Default Using Dates with SQL, ASP

    I have something like this (simplified)

<%
thedate = date()
%>

. . . . .**WHERE DateField > '" & thedate & "' . . . .
Unfortunately, this has no effect. In fact, I get something resembling a type mismatch, though when I try using a string (rather than a date), it doesn't work either. Anyhow, there's an error reported on the Recordset's .Open line that only shows when I'm doing this date stuff.

I want only records with dates after the specified date to be displayed.**I'm assuming that I'm doing something wrong.**I bet this solution is cake, so please step in. . . (Dammit Jim, I'm a C programmer, not a database guy)

In addition, if my field in the database has Date-time (which it does), how can I utilize the time setting?

Thanks
