I'm trying to find a way of using include statements to embed responses from remote Web servers. Something like this:

#include file="http://www.foo.com/latest.txt"

Why? I've got a number of databases that can respond to requests over HTTP. (Since the HTTP interface already exists, I'd like to reuse it rather than using a normal data access mechanism.) If I can insert text from a remote host with an #include, I can easily create dynamic content drawn from different data sources. This leaves IIS as the main Web server, leaves the pages on the IIS machine, and lets me include content from wherever it exists.

Does anyone know of a way to accomplish what I've described?
