Default PWS and HTML comments

    I'm running PWS on windows 98. The following ASP:

<!--some comment-->
<%Response.Redirect "some.asp"%>

gives me this error:

Response object error 'ASP 0156 : 80004005'
Header Error
The HTTP headers are already written to the client browser. Any HTTP header modifications must be made before writing page content.

If I put the above ASP on an NT server then there is no problem. Also, if I remove the html comment so the ASP is simply:

<%Response.Redirect "some.asp"%>

then I don't have any problem. In short, why is it that under PWS html comments conflict with ASP redirection commands and is there any solution?

    it's not comments per se - it's any HTML output

either Response.Redirect() before you output *any* HTML or place

<% Response.Buffer = true %> at the TOP of your ASP scripts, immediately after the language directive

j
