I am trying to validate user login to an Oracle database using ASP. The application I am trying to develop requires users to enter their username and password before allowing them access to the application and to query the database. As passwords in Oracle are encrypted how can I ensure correct login before permitting access to the applciaton...any help at all would be gratefully accepted

How would it help if they weren't encrypted? Just create a connection with what they supplied and if it's successful drive on, otherwise tell them you were not able to log them on. One way is to use 'On Error Resume Next' and then check the Err.Number, maybe switch off it for different messages. This would work with any database.

Hope it helps.
