I have a family web site that I play with new ideas on. One of the family suggested that I show who is logged onto the site on the main menu page after they log in. I did that but I realized that information is of little value unless you can "tap them on the shoulder" and ask them if they want to chat in the chat room that is available. My initial inclination was to put a stripped down mini chat window on the menu page but once again realized that few would be hovering on the menu page. I'm curious if anyone knows of a way to send a pre-written message that would appear in a small window inviting someone to chat right to their browser. I know this sounds like "push" technology but I have no idea where to start or if this is even the right direction. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
