Default ServerVariables and Redirecting

    Hi,

I was wondering if there is a simple way to code the following senerio in ASP.

an address such as is typed into the browser. The directory shoes doesn&#039t exist but i&#039d like to add some logic to the 404.asp page so it can tell that someone typed in /shoes (there could be a whole list of keywords in a database) and know to redirect to a page like mypage.asp?ID=52

so far i&#039ve only been able to get the 404 page to give me the name of the 404 page .. 404.asp

anyone have any thoughts on how i can accomplish this?

Thanks.

    Hi There-

I have actually done something similar to what you wish to do. And yes, there is an article on that does explain this in detail.

Basically all you do is change the 404 properties in IIS, and then put in your code in an asp file. You set the 404 properties to go to a url (this will execute the 404 script you make instead of just printing it out).

Hope this helps!

- Joe Price
