    Default Checking for active link

I was just wondering if there is a way with ASP to check a URL before displaying them on a page. If the site where the link is pointed is down, I would like to NOT display the link. Something like:<BR>IF URLActive(&#039 THEN <BR> Response.Write "&#060;A HREF=;Somesite&#060;/A&#062;"<BR>ELSE<BR> Response.Write "Somesite is down"<BR>END IF<BR>

This would slow your pages down QUITE A BIT. You can certainly use an HTTP component to determine if the link is &#039up&#039 and &#039valid&#039, but you will slow your users down drastically. However, if you still want to do so, try looking for HTTP components (like ASPTear) at (under network components)
