i am creating a com object in VB that will resize images dynamically. this works fine when called from other VB apps but not from asp, at least not fully. the main points of the dll to note are its SrcPic property which takes the form:

Property Set SrcPic(p as StdPicture)
...
End Property

Function CreateNewImage(Optional SourcePath, Optional DestinationPath, ...)
...
End Function

if you set the SrcPic property, then SourcePath is not required when you call CreateNewImage as it uses the picture object you have supplied. DestinationPath is the path to save the newly sized image to, and if it is not passed to the function, a temp file is used instead. the idea is to use this from an ASP page to load large images scaled down, so something like:

<%
Dim imgDll
Set imgDll = Server.CreateObject("Dll.Class")
<img src="<%= imgDll.CreateNewImage(srcpath)%>">
%& #062;

or something like that so you can load smaller thumbnailed images or whatever your needs may be. however, it only works if you set the SrcPic property AND specify a destination path...so something along the lines of:

<%Set imgDll.SrcPic = LoadPicture(srcpath)%>
<img src="<%= imgDll.CreateNewImage(, destinationPath, ...)%>">

thats the only combination that works, but from a VB app it all works fine, regardless of how you pass the source image or destination image. any ideas why?
