Default len

    Posted this before but the answer still eludes me.
I&#039m trying to use the Len function to count characters on my page
Problem is that I can get the Len to work fine if I force the length of the string to test it but when I insert the record from the database it won&#039t work. There is a record in the database. The len function just doesn&#039t recognize the record as a string (It is a MS Access memo field)
Since variable types are not defined in VBScript do I need to convert the field to a string first ? If so what function do I use?
I&#039ve inserted the code below.
Would appreciate a pointer in the right direction.

<%
Dim LetterCount, mystring
mystring = ContentTextRset("MainContentHTML")
LetterCount = Len(mystring)

If Lettercount > 500 Then

%>
