Default Updateable query & permissions in ASP

Using Access with IIS 4.0. I get this error:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error &#039 80004005&#039

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an updateable query.

I believe this has something to do with directory permissions, but I&#039m not sure. Please help.

Whenever I get these wacky error message I - SIMPLIFY the code to bare bones. Usually I find an SQL error or a connection error. Do you have any other recordsets and/or queries that are woking on that server you can compare your code to?

Try a super simple SQL like "Select strName from tblEmployees;" and try to build a strName table.

Hope this helps.

found out that if the IUSR_MACHINE account doesn&#039t have read/write access to the directory that the DB is located in, it&#039ll produce this error.

http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q175/1/68.asp
