Default RE: execute vb

There are several ways to do this. It depends on several factors (e.g. how many simultaneous users, etc.).

You could create a simple, stand-alone EXE file in VB, then pass params on the command line, or in a small text file, and then return the params in a small text file.

You could create an actual CGI app within VB (using STDIO), and bypass the ASP altogether.

You can create an ISAPI DLL (like a filter) in VB and use it that way.

You can create an ActiveX DLL, instantiate it as a server objecxt within the ASP environment, pass it parameters (as properties) and receive results directly (as properties or as return values).

You could cast your VB app as a &#039webclass&#039 (which is essentially the same as the previous option, but with most of the tough stuff handled by the VB environment).

Of all these, the best answer is *probably* to cast your VB as an ActiveX DLL. There are several articles on this website that deal with this topic, e.g.

http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/webtech/040300-1.shtml

http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/webtech/011900-1.shtml

http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/webtech/071999-1.shtml

http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/webtech/asp2dll.shtml
