    Default Saving a File using Javascript

    How do I save a File (on client machine) on click of a button using javascript ???

    Default You don't...

    That violates browser security and so is not allowed.<BR><BR>Only if you could convince the user to download some ActiveX control that bypassed the browser could you do it. (And I dunno about you, but *I* *NEVER* will download ActiveX controls except maybe from RealNetworks or Adobe or other major companies.)<BR><BR>The only acceptable way to save a file on the user machine is to let them click on a link to a file. Unless the file has an extension that the browser already knows how to handle, the user is then prompted to save the file and he/she can decide where.<BR><BR>
