First - I don&#039t know that I will be using the correct terms, so please bear with me.

Ok, I&#039ve gotten my DSNless connection to work using a call to the odbc driver - but not one using the oledb provider. The example I gave in a previous post was...

As in, on my test machine at home, I have to use the generic(?):
"driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}"

instead of the more specific: "PROVIDER=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;".

Now, someone has pointed out that the first example is a call to ODBC. I assume then, that I must have ODBC installed on the machine in order to make this call. Is this correct?

I guess the real question I have, is what would it take for me to use the 2nd example syntax? Is there something I must install or what?

Thanks!
