Default stored procedure problem

    Hello all,

I am sure this question has a very simple answer, yet it manages to elude me.

Take a look at this simple stored procedure.

(@visit_ids char(10))
AS

SELECT distinct d.code,
d.description
FROM
visit v,
diag d
WHERE v.code = d.code and
v.visit_id in (@visit_ids)

visit_id is an int and @visit_ids is a string(comma separated list)

I keep getting a implicit conversion error. I understand why this is happening. My question is how can I write this so i can keep my where in clause and return the results.

My database is Sybase.

Thanks in advance

this seems to be easy and i have never encountered this problem before but i think there is more to it

try and convert the v.visit_id to a charecter and see if it will work. I am not sure but i think it should work
