## Hexidecimal values

Grr.. I used to think I had this hexidecimal thing down, until the thought of using precise numbers occured to me. I had been using numbers like 556655 and 333333, but now, I need to do a color gradient in a page, and I need to know:<BR>what do the letters in hexidecimal values represent? What would 3F be, or A2 or AC? 30 is 30, 99 is 99, and I assume that F0 is 100, so how about the others? :P

The Hex colour values are in the following order:<BR><BR>Red, Green, Blue each with a value between 00 to ff, with the lower value meaning a lower luminosity of that particular color.<BR><BR>So #330000 would be a dark red compared to #ff0000<BR><BR>Due to the nature of web safe colors you should only use colors that jump in sets of 3 Eg:<BR><BR>336699<BR>ff00ff<BR>ffcc99<BR><BR>You may not get the correct colors if you work outside these sets eg:<BR>13ff00<BR>4488ff<BR><BR>This means your web safe colors aer limited to about 255 colors.<BR><BR>To do your gradient you want to loop through each possible web safe color:<BR><BR>eg:<BR><BR>000000<BR>330000<BR>66000 0<BR>990000<BR>cc0000<BR>ff0000<BR>003300<BR>33330 0<BR>663300<BR>993300<BR>cc3300<BR>ff3300<BR>00660 0<BR>etc

Keep in mind that you are dealing with hexadecimal numbers. So:<BR>A = 10<BR>B = 11<BR>C = 12<BR>D = 13<BR>E = 14<BR>F = 15<BR><BR>Your color palette is in [Red, Green, Blue]. The lowest number is of course 0, the highest 255. O means no intensity, 255 means full intensity on that color. So:<BR>[255, 255, 255] for example is the color white.<BR>[0,0,0] is the color black.<BR><BR>When calling your colors in hexadecimal form:<BR>#100000 = [16, 0, 0]<BR>#200000 = [32, 0, 0]<BR>#300000 = [48, 0, 0]<BR>#900000 = [144, 0 , 0]<BR>#A00000 = [160, 0, 0]<BR>#F00000 = [240, 0, 0]<BR><BR>If you add a digit after the first letter:<BR>#F10000 = [241, 0, 0]<BR>#FA0000 = [250, 0, 0]<BR>#FF0000 = [255, 0, 0]<BR><BR>and so on...
