Default Too many connections to SQL Server

I had inadvertently forgotten to close a connection to SQL Server in one of my ASP pages. After a few weeks, the pages started displaying partially, not picking up images and data from the database randomly. It was fixed by rebooting and closing the connection on the ASP page.
I have a couple of questions
1. How do I know how many connections are being used by SQL Server currently. sp_who doesnt return more than 10-12 rows. sp_monitor does not seem to give the number of currently open connections
2. Does the ASP code after a response.redirect get executed. In most pages I am closing the connection at the end of the page

Thanks

    Default Answer to question 2

It would be better to close the connection BEFORE you do the response.redirect BUT even if you dont it is taken care of and the connection is closed after you leave that page
