Default INSERT woes

Consider this SELECT statement (I found this is the easiest way to describe my database)

SELECT table1.title, table1.ID,, table2.ID FROM table1 INNER JOIN table2 ON table1.ID = table2.ID

Now, what I am having trouble doing is making an INSERT statement that would INSERT values into table1.title and at the same time. How would this work?

table1.ID is a PK autonumber and has a referential relationship with table2.ID.

I am using Access2000 with Windows2000 ASP3 ADO2.5

Thanks in advance for the help.

you&#039d need to do two separate inserts (or with SQL Server, a compound statement ("SET NOCOUNT ON; INSERT...... ; INSERT....")

j

What Atrax means is that when you do a Join query, you don&#039t usually have a one-to-one relationship and therefore the resultant fields don&#039t have a sure path back to the source tables. So updating using a join is not possible.
