Default Connection strings

    I am new to ASP and would like to build my connection string based on values passed in from another ASP page. The User ID and password are passed. How do you build the connection string?

strConnString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB; Data Source=SQL1; " & _
"Initial Catalog=CATES; User ID= ; password="

I&#039m a little unclear to what you want exactly, but I think you want the password and User ID they send in using a form to populate in your connection string. Going on that assumption, try this:

strConnString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB; Data Source=SQL1; " & _
"Initial Catalog=CATES; User ID=&#039" & Request.Form("ID") & "&#039 ; password=&#039" & Request.Form("PASSWORD" & "&#039"

where ID is the text field name where the user entered their ID and PASSWORD is the text field name where the user entered their password.

Cheers,
M:)
