    Default MS Access autonumber reset

    How do you reset the autonumber field on an MA Access database?<BR>Say I wanted to start at 1 again.<BR><BR>I have a friend who just had all his order numbers renumbered. It was an autonumber field that somehow ggot renumbered.<BR><BR>Beats me. This is why I only use SQL&#062;<BR><BR>Thanks,<BR><BR>Rob

    if i&#039ve had to do this, i&#039ve just deleted the table and started again. <BR><BR>j

    1) Create a copy of the table structure (Right click on table, copy, paste, Select Structure only) then paste the contents back in and you will have reset the numbering.<BR><BR>or<BR><BR>2) Empty the table and run a compact on the database (Tools, Database Utilities, Compact) this will also reset the auto-numbering to 0<BR><BR>Note: If you run an append query into a new table with an autonumber field and supply a numeric value for the autonumber field, the table will use that number rather than create new autonumbers for each row.
