Default HTTP 404 Error & ASP

I&#039ve been told that when I attempt to load an img that is not available, an HTTP 404 error occurs.

Is there anyway to identify this in ASP? And, if so, can I identify this for each img file I attempt to load on a page with multiple img files?

Specifically, I wish to load an img file from a remote server. If the img file isn&#039t available, I want to display a default img file.

Can I do an If Then statement that goes something like this?

If HTTP Error 404 occurs Then
Response.Write "default img tag here"
Else
Response.Write "specific img tag here"
End If

It would be great if anyone out there could supply some code.

Thanks,
Chris

you need to use an http component. the code will be dependent on which one you grab - docs will be available with the component.

this question was asked in the last couple of days - a quick browse wouldn&#039t hurt

BTW this will definitely slow down your pages

j
