client side VBScript can do this to an extent via ActiveX. usually via COM CreateObject("package.class") - you'd need to know the CLSID or ProgID of the .exe you're trying to run - for word, "Word.Application" and so on

j
No Atrax I cant use like that because the exe I have is like calc.exe (which is the calculater exe of windows) and I can't use creatobject for that because it does not have a program library associated like word or excel.
Please let me know if can run it by some other way or if we can indeed run it using creatobject please give an example as to how.
Thanks
v.
ActiveX is possible. Standard exe is not.

Users need to download, save and doubleclick it.

Try search a little on this site, you'll find at least 2 postings by me and quite a lot by others as well about the subject.
yes Chrace thats the problem I am facing. I am downloading the exe on to client's machine and wants client to run it manually but the client is insisting that he will only type the url in the browser and it should be downloaded and executed.
I will search the site for more details, in the mean time if you have any suggestions/ideas please do let me know.
Thanks
V.
