The following code is giving me a Type mismatch error. I KNOW the error is coming from my conn.execute and not from some vbScript type mismatch in lines above my conn.execute because I've tested for it. The Type mismatch error IS coming from the following code whether I use "path=" or "path like".

UPDATE paths_unique_new SET parent='BUTTONS', level=1 WHERE path like 'BUTTONS2COLOR'
UPDATE paths_unique_new SET parent='BUTTONS', level=1 WHERE path='BUTTONS2COLOR'

Access 2000 database
parent is a text field
level is an integer field
path is a text field

I'm very experienced with this stuff so it doesn't really make sense. I mean the error causes me to think I've set my field types wrong or that I'm trying to put text in a numeric field but I've doublechecked that. Any ideas?
